Line breaks missing from my formatted code

When I use [Plain], copying the code that’s been formatted results in no line breaks being present in what’s pasted. Here’s an example of a recent post:

If you select a segment of code and then paste it into a text editor, you’ll see all the line breaks completely removed from the results. What am I doing incorrectly that my code can’t be copied and pasted properly?
