    Greetings —

I’m having an almost-hilarious problem, but that is increasingly becoming a bigger problem. I use WP for my course sites and don’t do anything fancy — materials, readings, syllabi, etc.: https://composing.org/wrd103aq2011/course-calendar/

Lately, when making a text change or an update, something is causing the line-break formatting to readjust itself. See, for example: https://composing.org/wpfix/wpfix1.jpg — see how Section36 is inappropriately aligned? I log in, select Edit, change that alignment problem with a hard return, Update, and then this happens, right above it on that same page: https://composing.org/wpfix/wpfix2.jpg

Isn’t that the darnedest thing? It’s kind of Twilight Zone-ish: the formatting problem moves.

Does anyone know why? Have you seen this before?

    Thanks —

    Best,

    Michael

  • Hi Michael,

Sorry you’re having trouble with your formatting. Are you using a plugin or a theme that might be affecting your formatting? You can troubleshoot this by disabling plugins and switching to the default theme.

There are also reported issues with the TinyMCE WYSIWYG Editor when switching back and forth between the Visual and HTML views. If you’re stepping into the HTML editor to make changes, you may need to keep it on the HTML editor view so your code isn’t accidentally altered by the WYSIWYG editor.

    Yes.

You can try installing a plugin called tinyMCE.

Once installed, there is an option under settings to ‘stop removing page breaks
‘ and this may solve your problem.

ChristiNi and PSM — thanks so much! I’m really grateful.

I installed tinyMCE and edited — I didn’t see a different visual editor: https://composing.org/wpfix/wpfix3.jpg — but I made the changes again and this time they seem to have stuck.

    Thanks again — very much!

    Best,
    Michael
