Limiting text in Featured Page 1, 2, 3 area’s

    Hi,
    It’s time for an update of my business site and see the my old theme is no longer supported. I’ll also be switching web hosts soon so it’s a good time for a fresh start.
    The Edin theme appears to be close to what I’m after. I’m just playing with it now just to see if the layout options will work for me.
    Some questions I had were answered in previous posts here, but I couldn’t find an answer to this:
    On the Home page I would like the text in the 3 featured page areas to be the same number of characters or some other parameter to make the READ MORE text line up for the 3 areas.
    If I decide to stick with this theme, I apologise in advance for the barrage of questions that will be sure to follow:)

  • Hi there!

    The most straightforward solution here would be to make use of each of your page’s custom excerpt field (found on the page’s editor). Any text you enter to that field will be displayed alongside the page on the home page.

    You could make sure to enter text of the same length into each of the excerpt fields for your featured pages.

    Ta-da. It worked.
    At first I couldn’t find the option for a page excerpt, but it had to be turned on in Screen Options. Once I checked the box, it was there.
