Limited Flexibility
-
This is BEAUTIFUL looking theme. However, when I attempted to actually USE it, some of its appeal was lost.
I thought I asked the right questions before buying, but it was only after purchasing the Plus version, I was disappointed to learn:
— the footer is not widgetized
— the PLUS version is not a theme, but rather a plug-in
— home page features cannot be duplicated on other pages
— using anything other than the one page format (say you want visitors to go a a different page) requires editing page templates or coding your own.Unfortunately, I also ran into an issue after a recent upgrade to the theme or plugin (not sure which) where when working in chrome, I cannot access the Customizer Options that allow me to edit the plugin features. No biggie (I guess), if you always want to design in Internet Explorer.
On the bright side, the support was relatively responsive and attempted to help when things went wrong. And, FameThemes does offer a 30 day refund. I should have taken advantage of it, but after investing so much time and effort into designing, I wanted to try to get the theme to do what I needed.
At this point, not sure if I will hire a developer to add widget support to the footer, fix the issues with the header not showing on blog archive pages and create a page template that allows me to incorporate the homepage features onto other pages — or just scrap it and start from scratch. Either way, a fair amount of time and money invested.
