• This is a fantastic way to provide instructions to clients in the backend and I’m glad someone thought of creating it! It works great but here are some of my gripes with it, which are either missing or not easy enough to find:

    1. I’d love to use the custom tabs but the regular integration into the Help tab looks so much better, so it’d be great if the tab was more easily customizable.
    2. I looked all over for how to set which page it shows up on before finally finding the information here on the plugin page. I agree that it could be more intuitive, or at least include notes on how to use it.
    3. Adding it to New Post pages with the url works fine, but I’d like those instructions to show up on the Edit Post page as well, and the url for that specifies the post id. Adding it to just post.php doesn’t allow for custom post types.
    4. The settings page is a bit confusing and over-explained. More succinct wording might help, mostly at the end. For example, all that’s really needed for the Default Viewing Level setting is something like “Set the Viewing Level of non-logged-in users when showing on the front end.”

All in all I love the plugin though, and thanks for making it! Now I don’t have to set up alert links in my functions file.

Awesome review – thank you! This is exactly the sort of feedback I’m looking for – ways to improve it ??

The custom tab is affected by CSS. It has a default stylesheet, but you can supply your own and change how it looks.(actually, I think it calls in whatever the back-end default is, but I haven’t had a chance to do anything with the plugin since 3.7, I think – except just to verify it’s still working. So I might need to add the new stylesheets.)

Thanks for the ideas! As soon as my workload dies down a bit, I want to dig back into this and improve it – I use it all the time for my own clients, and I’m *constantly* rewriting things to fit my needs for each project (and can definitely understand your points here – I’ve said many of the same things, myself!), but I just haven’t had a chance to put the goods I’ve written into the free one here.
