• I’ve tried to figure out a way to do this for about 2 days now and I havn’t found a solution yet.

The objective: To make a user role/class which is limited to where it can publish new pages.

Example: User BattleToad (made up name) wants to create a new page, but I don’t want the possibility of him posting it under the wrong location. Since BattleToad isn’t nessisarly trustworthy or experienced he is likely to often publish pages to the default directory instead of where it belongs.

I want to be able to control where he can and cannot publish pages. Even password protecting all the other pages from being possible parents would be fine, but I think restriction by user role would be less clunky.

Forgot somethings…. I’m running WP 2.0.4 I believe and I’m using the Role Manager Plugin.

Thanks in advance, I’ve always gotten excellent support from these forums!

I actually have that plugin installed from the last time you helped me (thanks again). It prevents editing of others pages but it does not restrict where the user can place the pages. Perhaps I need to configure it somehow?

Red Alt seems to be having problems and I can’t find a list of plugins or documentation for this plugin.

Yes, his site died a few weeks ago and still in course of recovering…

Ah, I couldn’t remember it was you with the plugin, sorry.

All the Pages are published in the same “directory” – i.e. no directory, since everything is in the database.
Unfortunately, there is no “draft” status for Pages.

Ok, I have another idea that would work almost as well. Is there a way that I can edit what pages appear in the drop down box on the right (when someone goes to publish a page), this would be the box where you select a parent.

While that wouldn’t totally eliminate the possibility to post it the wrong place it would severely lessen the chances of someone doing it on accident.
