limit users/block hacker users

  • HI all. I need to find a way to permanently block hackers who have been trying for 3 weeks to create new, unauthorized users on my site-through the WordPress dashboard, and then publish spam blog posts from the site.

    I have had my site reviewed for malware and offending code, deleted the 6original, unauthorized hacker users, changed all passwords, added password lock plug-ins, limited all users to “subscribers” in my WORDPRESS dashboard, and blocked the spam-hacker IP addresses using .htaccess, but the original spammers – who successfully hacked in and created new users in September- tried again today to log in.

    I have read a lot of posts concerning blocking spam/hack commentors- but cant find anything addressing hackers trying to access through WordPress. Any ideas?
