• I’ve entered the following in the field: Limit to post types

post, page, store, product… although I just now realized (duh) that “page repost” isn’t going to work in this plugin.

However, it does not recycle any of my product posts in my woocommerce store.

Is there a workaround for this?

Am I using this field incorrectly?

It’s a little touchy. Put the custom post types with just a comma between them, not a comma and space. So post, page, store, product

gotcha. Thank you. I have two questions, will this plugin repost any products from my storefront? I’ve put in the category id but haven’t seen anything trigger yet.

One more question, and I don’t think it has to do with your plugin, but all of a sudden the other plugins, which would repost to my social media, do not trigger like they did before when your plugin reposts to my site.

Btw, I really like your plugin. The other ones I’ve tried are cumbersome and rarely work. Great job John.

I don’t use woocommerce, but you mentioned product is a custom post type, so just make sure the category ids are used for product and it should be fine.

If you are publishing drafts/posts, WP handles it as a standard publish so should trigger all hook events. If you are recycling an already published post, the hook events are not triggered.

Your plugin hasn’t recycled all of my posts yet, so not sure why the social auto posters have stopped all of a sudden.

But, I was researching jetpack publicize troubleshooting (I wasn’t using jetpack’s social publicizer before) and they suggested I ask you this.

By the way, thank you for your patience.

    Using a Post Duplicator
If you use a plugin to duplicate your posts, you could run into issues, because as well as duplicating the post content, it will likely also duplicate the post meta that tells Jetpack that the post has already been Publicized, so when you publish the new post, Publicize will fail.

There are several possible solutions for this:

Don’t start from a published post. Duplicate a draft post.
If the plugin includes an option like “Don’t duplicate post meta” – enable that option.
If the plugin doesn’t include that option, ask the plugin author if they included a filter to prevent duplicating the post meta.
If there is no filter, ask the plugin author to exclude all post meta containing the ????_wpas???? string from ever being duplicated.

I found a metadata remover plugin to remove all data from my post hoping that would retrigger my social media plugins to promote my recycled posts. It removed all the data, but still the posts are not being promoted to my social media. It was working and stopped 3 days ago. Your plugin, however, continues to posts published and already recycled posts to my website’s front page, but now it does not trigger my social media plugins like it did before.

I use xyzscripts plugins for facebook, twitter and linkedin.

    Any thoughts?

Update. I deleted the plugin and then re-downloaded it. It posted to my site as well as my social media platforms, but then when the next post posted, 2 hours later, it only posted to my site and not to my social media platforms. I’m not sure why it worked 4 hours ago and now it’s not. I’m at a loss.

I think there are two things happening here.

When a post is published from a draft or pending status, it triggers a WordPress ‘publish’ event that those social media plugins hook into, so that they can push it to your social media sites.

When a post is recycled, it means an old published post remains a published post, only the publish date is updated to ‘now’. It does not trigger a WordPress ‘publish’ event so those social media plugins would not push it to your social media sites.

If you want those other plugins to push a recycled post, I’ll have to look into an alternative for a future update.
