Limit the characters/words show in the author box

there’s not such feature, actually. A workaround can be adding the following custom css:

.saboxplugin-wrap .saboxplugin-desc p, 
.saboxplugin-wrap .saboxplugin-desc {
    max-height: 50px;
    overflow: hidden;
}
