limit posts on front page of 2014 theme

Hi there, im new to forum and wordpress – so sorry if this has been asked before.

How do i limit the number of posts that show up on the front page of the 2014 theme (without deleting them entirely).? I currently have 6 in the fetured grid layout and would like to only show 2 in the posting below before they are archived.

Any help would be hugely appreciated
