Limit post excerpt text with 'posts' shortcode

  • I’m using the SU plugin on many of my sites and I’ve been quite happy with it. Just now I am using it to display a few post excerpts, thumbnail and a ‘read more’ link in a sidebar.

    Issue is, I want to limit the amount of text shown to something like 10 words instead of the 50 or so words that it currently shows.

    Does anyone know how to do that?

    All you have to do is add the excerpt into the excerpt box while writing your posts. If you don’t see the excerpt box you can enable it by clicking “Screen Options” and checking the excerpt box. Once enabled, paste or type in what you want to show, 10 words etc., and the su_posts will display only the excerpt you typed in.

    Thanks for the tip! I totally forgot to go looking under the ‘screen options’.
    I ended up writing php code to cut off the amount of text as an override but excerpt will give more control, awesome.
