I’m new to this plug-in. So far I like it a great but I’ve run into two issues.

    1. Fields I’ve added have stopped showing up on the form in preview mode. At a rough count I have about 75 and still have some more to go. Is there a limit to how many can go on a form?

And if I have a field with multiple selections, or a radio button with multiple selections does that still count as one field or does each selection option count toward some total that has a limit?

Also, some of the horizontally displayed multiple selections seem to wrap soon, and I’d like to widen the text area fields and boxes. I’ve tried following some responses to the same question for that a few different ways but can’t get them to visibly widen. Can somebody give me a hint or clear direction on how I can convince the plug-in the form is wide enough to not wrap so soon, and to widen the text boxes and areas?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks for the link. A couple of quick followups:

    1. I’m not sure I’m understanding or maybe being clear on the current issue. It’s gotten to the point where I try to add new fields and after I hit Save Changes the bottom fields (assuming I dragged some of the new ones up in the form) are not appearing, like they’ve been dropped. Are you saying the linked solution fixes this as well as what shows up when previewing or using the form? Or do I have another problem as well?

1b. If there is some limit on the number of fields you can put on a page do you have some recommendation on an easy way to do a multiple page form, all linked to the same submission e-mail address? Or do I just have to make 2 or 3 essentially separate forms and then provide instructions to press Submit and then seek out and complete the next page of the form?

    2. I’ve looked and done a search of the files and can’t find a php.ini file or the max_input_vars string within any file on the host. I don’t know if this is because the document you referred me to from 2011 has been superceded or if something else is wrong.

I’ve also tried the search for Suhosin method but don’t see the word in the home page of the web site. Might it show up on a different page?

Thanks for any help you can provide. I like the base product but if I have to consolidate down all my checkbox questions into a few open, overarching text field questions where they might forget things just to get it to fit on the form the plug-in is not going to have as much value for us.

Hi have you spoken to your host in regards to the php.ini file and the settings that the link I provided above is asking you to amend?

Another user a while back was able to resolve the problem by carrying out the following.

You may need to do this via .htaccess (on a shared host for instance), use:
    php_value max_input_vars 3000

Okay, so I got ahold of our hosting provider today. He said he added the value to .htaccess for 3000 and the site went down with a Error 500 Internal Server Error. He took it out and the site came back up.

I then had him try 2000 and got the same results. He backed it out.

He says they do not seem to be running Suhosin. Well, he said it more definitely but I’m not entirely sure he checked it correctly.

Hi, how much memory do you have allocated to your WordPress?

I don’t know about the available memory however I logged in to our hosting provider today and it looks like a more experienced technician saw the ticket and successfully increased the max_input_vars value to 3000 and now I’m seeing more fields in edit and preview mode and can add them again as well so I’m back in business. Thanks so much for your help!
