    Hello, Jacob (and all others).

First, excellent plugin… thank you very much for sharing it with the rest of us.

I have just started to figure out how to use it for a new client of mine, who has certain needs your plugin seems to meet. Perhaps it’s possible, as your Settings are quite extensive, but doesn’t seem to be the case, so thought to finally ask:

Is it possible to limit the number of album creations based on user roles. If not, would you consider adding it? It seems quite practical and will help those building member sites of varying levels/roles. If not, I will script it and still use the plugin… again, just thought to ask.

And, as a side question (apologize, just thought creating a new post might be more than needed), I just eliminated the link to create a new ‘child album’ in each album by way of .css, but is there a way to do this in your Settings?

Thank you again, Jacob (if you are the one reading this), from what I can see so far, it’s an amazing plugin, although as you already know, the learning curve by the extent of the settings is a bit steep for the average user. ?? Awesome, nonetheless. ?? I appreciate it, Jacob.

    Hope all is well!

the link to create a new ‘child album’ in each album

    Uncheck Table VII-B1

limit the number of album creations based on user roles

If you really need this besides the limitation of uploads ( see Table VII-B5.x ) we already have, i will consider it for future enhancement.

    Pls. let me know.

    Hi, Jacob.

Thank you very much for taking time out to help answer the questions. I know how busy we can all get with work work work. ??

    RE:

the link to create a new ‘child album’ in each album

    Uncheck Table VII-B1

I think there might have been a misunderstanding. It’s fine folks create an album, and actually desired… just NOT a child album. Make sense? When I do what you said, the front-end user can not create any albums. It’s ok, as mentioned, I can simply remove with .css within each album, but not the ‘best’ way to do things (arguably, like most things). ?? No big deal, I can leave it the way it is now, as it ‘works’. ??

In regard to the ‘Limit Number of Album Creation by Role’, the main question, yes, I think that would be perfect for sites that allow users of various roles or ‘levels’ to have a certain limit of albums they can create.

For instance, someone who just starts out on the site with a beginner account/role and can create up to 3 albums with a limit of 8 images in each album, but if as they gain certain credit or points or whatever basis the site’s for attributing levels/roles, the member advances, the role changes, and the member now can have 5 albums with a limit of 30 images per album. And, so on… into infinity. ??

You are already there in some sense, and I imagine it would be adding another column/field in both UI/DB and we are off and running. ?? Seems to go with the album image limit quite nicely, like peanut butter and jelly (ok, not the best analogy, perhaps because it’s time to eat here!). ??

    I appreciate your consideration.

I will be looking more into some other aspects of the plugin as I go, like the reason behind the popup for the users to edit the image details. I haven’t tested that on mobile fully, but a few adjustments might be necessary to make it responsive, as it looked like the columns shifted into each other, instead of shifting downward… perhaps just a simple ‘min-width:’, but have to look at how you have it coded first. Will let you know.

Thanks again, Jacob… it’s a pleasure to see someone start something, stick with it, and take the time to help answer questions and assist with one’s user base, all in an open source spirit. Greatly appreciated.

Hope all is well, Jacob! ??

Ok, to be continued after the weekend…

No worries here, Jacob… absolutely no ‘crazy’ (aka, irrational) expectations from me! After all of the work you have done and all that you have achieved… you have shown your character and provided ‘more than enough’ for anyone asking, in my opinion, and the fact you keep up with requests and support as you do… I would never expect more than you have already provided. It’s a beautiful thing, from my perspective.

Maybe a “Thank you” is ‘enough’… if so, sorry. ?? I simply think it’s important in this day and age for folks to know they are appreciated when they are, and for ‘good’, objective reasons.

Hope you have a FANTASTIC weekend.

    Thank you, again, Jacob.

One part of your problem is solved already.

Tick the box in Table IX-D7.2

If someone who is NOT an administrator creates an album, its parent will be the album as selected in Tabpe IX-D7.1, where — none — means that it will be a top-level album (that displayes in the ‘generic’ display).

    A few more questions:

    – Is there still a selectionbox?
    – If so, the albums you can no longer select, ar they disappeared or are they grayed?
    – What is the owner of the albums that you can not select anymore?

    (@opajaap)

    Should work again in 6.1.4
