Limit most recent post from chosen categories

So I was studying the loop information, most specifically multiple loops in action. I want to do what is displayed here- but 3 times on the main page.

So for example, I would want one post to show from the categories surveys, updates, and information.

Would I just use that code three times over or do I need to put some other information between each? Also, those will be the only 3 posts shown, so I wouldn’t need the second half of the code that displays X most recent posts, so in it’s place what would I need?
