I presently use Managed WordPress on GoDaddy. GoDaddy pre-installs the plugin Limit Login Attempts Reloaded on all their Managed WordPress sites. I tried today to upgrade to PHP 8.0 from PHP 7.4 since it was finally made an option on my Managed WordPress (NOT CPANEL) setup. This plugin failed in the PHP 8.0 setup for my GoDaddy Managed WordPress environment. None of my other plugins failed. My site loaded fine, but that plugin no longer worked. As soon as I downgraded back to PHP 7.4 the plugin worked fine again. Is this a Managed WordPress environment issue on GoDaddy, as I have no control over changing the server/database in that environment and presently, GoDaddy still shows 7.4 as the recommended PHP on the drop down, so I’m choosing to leave it as 7.4 for now, but wanted to ask the masses if they already know of this issue. FYI, I am not a well-versed user of WordPress and am really a beginner so please, if you can answer this question, let it be at a 3rd grade level of WordPress knowledge ok? ?? Thank you!

    Hi @andrewarthurdawson,

This certainly sounds like something that would be something to take up with your host and/or the support channels offered with Limit Login Attempts Reloaded as I don’t believe Wordfence is involved in the issues you’re describing.

I will however add that despite many WordPress sites being able to run on PHP8 without issue, there are some circumstances where we have also had to recommend rolling back to PHP7.4. Security support for PHP7.4 will continue until November 2022 so there is still time to run on this configuration until all active plugin developers have caught up with PHP8 issues that may be occurring.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
