Limit connections to user's own posts

I know scribu doesn’t offer support for this plugin anymore, but perhaps he or someone else is still able to help me.
I’m trying to limit connections between two post types to only include posts by the current user. This thread does just that, but was written two years ago and does not work anymore.
Is it still possible to do this, and if so: how?
