Limit characters

    Hello,
    Is there a way to limit the characters of a value? For example, we are using DESCRIPTION as a value, but length of some descriptions is more than 500 characters and we dont want to allow descriptions larger than that. Is there a way to cut the description on the feed limiting at 500 characters?
