    Dear Salvatore Fresta,

I am using your amazing plugin for several months. You have put a lot of effort and making it more and more perfect.

I have a query regarding Auto Prefetch URLs in ViewPort. As my website(mytrustworth.com) has numerous links in the navigation bar which needs to be exempted from the ‘prefetch viewport’.

Is there any way to neglect navigation bar links to be excluded from prefetch?

Do add this feature in the upcoming update as it is very essential for those sites which have a lot of links in the navigation bar.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @shadmuhammad,

As my website(mytrustworth.com) has numerous links in the navigation bar which needs to be exempted from the ‘prefetch viewport’.

    – Why is that? The browser always do prefetch at the very end when it is idle and after processing all the critical resources and loading the webpage.

So, when a user is scrolling your homepage or looking at something, in the background the prefetch happens. This is good to ensure that as soon as the user clicks on any of the links, the cache status will already be HIT and the page will open immediately.

Is there any way to neglect navigation bar links to be excluded from prefetch?

    – No there is no such way.

Do add this feature in the upcoming update as it is very essential for those sites which have a lot of links in the navigation bar.

    – Again I really don’t see why it is necessary. As the browser will process the prefetch requests after it is idle with the lowest priority given to the prefetch requests. This will not hamper your initial page load. In fact, it will help your users to get pages as cache HIT.

But for some reason, if you must want it (I don’t know why) you can disable the viewport feature and use the prefetch on hover feature only.

    Dear Saumya Majumder,

Have been reading your replies for quite a long time. Great contribution indeed.

And thank you for explaining every detail.

As my site is hosting several Videos which should be loaded too and should be running smoothly.

If background prefetch starts then videos download at runtime stops due to bandwidth limitations from the user.

That’s why I wanted to enable prefetch ONLY on pages’ internal links rather than whole menu bar items.

I have searched a lot but still not successful as to how to exempt the menu items from prefetch on the viewport.

Some 100+ requests to load is too many to be handled by the user internet.

Do try to crack it, you guys have command over optimization and caching. You might find some way.

    Will be waiting…for update.

    Hi @shadmuhammad ,
websites with many internal links should enable the prefetch on mouse hover only
