I am hosting a site on Amazon Lightsail and they don’t have the conventional htacess file that is writeable. Is there a work around for this?

  • They told you htaccess isn’t writeable? Or is it non-existent? Or not supported by your web server?

htaccess doesn’t work for Windows Servers and Nginx doesn’t use htaccess.

Sometimes the web server can’t write to its own htaccess on Linux/Apache. Chown and chmod are used to change ownership and privileges when needed.

This isn’t exactly a WordPress issue as much as a hosting issue. And I have no experience with Lightsail or AWS… too confusing.

It is indeed a hosting issue and should be addressed with the hosting provider (AWS).

DoralDOC.com runs on Apache. So, no issues in parsing htaccess files.
