Lightsail: can’t login to dashboard

    2 days ago I am no longer able to login to my lightsail wordpress site dashboard. (https://howietan.com/wp-login.php)

    It shows that my password or user is not correct however, I have not changed anything. Even the default password from lightsail doesnt work.

    What i’ve tried:
    1. PW reset but it cannot send email but doesnt work.
    2. tried to change password through ssh using commands I found on google search but it didnt work either.
    3. I only have basic account on aws so their tech support isnt available.
    4. Upgraded my instance’s ram.

    if you are trying to change the password for WP-Admin area (not the password for webhosting account) – you can change the password directly in the database associated with your WordPress site in the users table. you can also check on the email addresses and usernames.     Hi Lisa,

    The problem was I wasn’t even able to get to the wp dashboard because I couldn’t log in. I had to restore an old snapshot of the instance with upgraded ram and I was able to login with the same credentials. Not sure what happened there or maybe an update messed with WP idk. I am just glad that I’ll be able to close this help request and mark this as resolved.
