Thanks for the question. Yes, Media Library Assistant will let you map any of your IPTC or EXIF metadata to standard WordPress fields, such as the caption, as well as taxonomy terms and custom fields.
Once the plugin is installed you can go to the Settings/Media Library Assistant screen and select the IPTC/EXIF tab. There you will find the “Standard field mapping” section, which includes the WordPress Title, Name/slug, Alternate Text, Caption and Description fields.
You can select any of the IPTC values set by Lightroom, such as “2#005 object-name” or “2#012 subject-reference” for the Caption field. You can also enter any of the EXIF values, such as “COMPUTED.UserComment”. You can enter both IPTC and EXIF values and select which one takes priority if both are coded.
You can use the “ALL_IPTC” and “ALL_EXIF” pseudo-values to look at all the data and see which fields are populated by Lightroom. This is explained on the Documentation tab.
I hope that gets you started on mapping your metadata to Media Library items. If you have any problems or further questions, please let me know. Enjoy the plugin!
