Lightbox stopped working after plugin update

  • Hello,

    Let me begin by saying that I have read through many forum posts and have tried everything suggested. That being said, it definitely seems to be a theme issue since twentyfourteen works without a problem.

    Any idea why the lightbox would have been working with the older version of the plugin but now the new plugin will not?

    One thing I found is that when I go to advanced settings under Lightbox effects in other options the stylesheet and javascript URLs do not include the domain name. They did with the old plugin but now I can see that they are beings listed as “photocrati-lightbox#highslide/highslide.css” for example for the highslide option. Every option now has the domain removed from the URLs. Could this be an issue? Like I said twentyfourteen works so is it possible I need to add something to my functions.php file? Or perhaps I need to add in some javascript? I have fiddled with the twentyfourteen theme and tried adding in the html5/js to my theme but had no success. Thank you for any assistance you can provide!!

    @tderouindesign – The paths you are seeing in the Lightbox Effects settings are the “new” relative URL which are correct as far as you example shows.

    Looking via the page source of your site, I am not seeing a “standard” WordPress style.css file so I really cannot speak to what might be causing the conflict if it is theme related, or if you are experiencing a conflict with another active plugin. Have you checked that as well?

    I have deactivated all other plugins with no success as well.

    I was in the process of attempting to re-install the old version of the plugin so perhaps that is why you may not have seen the style.css document. It is definitely there.

    I am lost as to what is missing from my theme. It is probably something simple (I hope) but I have no idea what to look for. Followed all troubleshooting instructions I could find. Thank you for your help Cais!

    Is there anything specifically that has changed in the most recent version(s) that would cause lightbox to no longer function properly with the theme?

    @tderouindesign So, with all other plugins deactivated together with the activation of a WordPress default theme it doesn’t work?

    No. If I switch to the default twentyfourteen theme it works.

    I just don’t understand what has changed with the plugin. The theme hasn’t changed for over a year. It seems to me that there must be some basic string of code that needs to be added to my theme and that should take care of it.

    I have also tried removing all css and js from the theme (and since have put it back) to see if something was interfering with the plugin but nothing helped.

    @tderouindesign – Not that it should matter to NextGEN Gallery but I am not seeing the style.css header block so that is very odd … and the style sheet is being called (at least) twice as well?!

    You have jQuery version 1.7.2 (as shown in the page source) which may be part of the problem as well since NextGEN Gallery is looking for the current version bundled with WordPress core which is also much newer which is also being used on the site but the older version is being called last.

    Aside from that, make sure that there are calls to wp_header() and wp_footer() in appropriate places as NextGEN Gallery needs those (the source indicates they are in the theme code but … just in case).

    We will likely need a set of log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation as well, please include those with the Bug Report.
