• Hi here,

I am currently setting up a blog post to include an image gallery, and when I click on a photo to enlarge it and view the whole image, it doesn’t display the caption or description I’ve used, but instead uses the image name e.g dsc 1052 and the post name.

Is there any way I can add custom css to display the caption only in the lightbox, and where I haven’t used a caption, just have blank space under the image instead of text?

So far for other images I have set the image link to none as I’m not sure how to remedy this.

    The site is all-four-corners.com

Many thanks in advance for the great service!

  • Hey,
Not sure I understand, Here is an example, it shows the caption in the lightbox.

Are you wanting to hide the caption until you see it in the lightbox?

    Hey,

It’s mainly a problem not for individual images that are in posts, as trhe caption appears under those as normal. The problem is when you click on a thumbnail or picture to enlarge it, and when it shows up in a lightbox, the caption itself doesn’t show, but the description of the image for example dsc 0000 and the post name.

Essentially, what I’m trying to change is more for photos that I have uploaded as part of an image gallery, like on this page https://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue/image-carousel-post/.

The problem I’m having, is that when I click on the thumbnails to enlarge the photo in a lightbox, the caption I had used for this picture isn’t diplayed, but instead the file name and post name is, that’s the bit I’m trying to change.

I hope this is an example – in the about us page, if you scroll down and click on the inidivual pics of me and my partner, they enlarge and instead of displaying a caption, they display a file name and post name, that’s the part I’d like to change. I don’t want the caption to be displayed when just viewing a thumbnail, but also in the lightbox, as at the moment the caption isn’t visible in the lightbox.

    I hope that makes sense!

    Many Thanks,

    Annabel

I think your issue is with the alternative text. When editing the about us page, click on the image to edit. you will see a box for caption and a box for alternative text. Add what you want to the alternative text and that will be your caption in the lightbox.
I updated this example to show you:
