• Hi WP

I have found that the lightbox is not working on a site.
    Host says

“GD is enabled in the servers so is ImageMagick.

(Don’t know if these are related) but I took the same template and added to another site that it is working on. I did not do anything else. Image settings are the same. Version the same. The image on the site that is not working just pops up but with a black background and no option to close you have to go back. The site that is working is perfect.

Can anyone think what the cause maybe so I can tell the host what to do or whatever. This host is notorious at blocking things, security etc…I think they have blocked a script, but who knows….

Is there a list of things that the lightbox needs to run on a server? I cannot a list. I am looking at the news, how do I find out when this was added to WP as a standard (lightbox to media file link that is)

    Thanks
    Rusty

  • Do you have a URL for the affected page?

Generally speaking – Lightbox is a javascript technique, that is run on the client (i.e. the user’s machine). It would be very unusual for a server to block this.

That said, there may be some code on the server (ImageMagick…etc), that prepares your images (i.e. resizes them…etc) such that they can be delivered (when Lightbox calls for them).

Is there an error_log on the server that you can check for messages related to the resizing of images?

Alternatively, if you have multiple plugins/javascript libraries being loaded, it is possible that the combination of theses plugins…etc may not play nicely together. You can try switching some plugins off, or changing theme temporarily to isolate the issue.
