Really hope someone can help with this…

I have a lightbox gallery plugin [SimpLy Gallery Block & Lightbox] that worked as intended until I installed and activated Smush.

Once I did that, instead of loading a photo in a Lightbox gallery, the photo just appears on an otherwise black page (you must go back a page to view the gallery).

Why is there a conflict and how can it be resolved?

Seems the conflict lies with lazy load unfortunately, do I have to choose between Lightbox and lazy load?

    Hi @niallasd

    I hope you’re well today!

Such conflict is not a “rule of a thumb” but it is possible and quite likely if the other plugin is using some kind of “dynamic” image handling – like “zoom” or some JS-powered “effects” or, in general, is displaying images using JS.

If you have confirmed the conflict (by simply disabling lazy load in Smush) then it may also be possible to keep lazy load enabled but only exclude pages with galleries from lazy load or exclude specific images (if they use unique CSS class/ID – but it has to be class/ID of the IMG tag and not it’s parent container!).

Yet, I’d like to give it a closer look so can you confirm if I’m testing the correct plugin? I think this is the one you are using:

Also, even if you have lazy load disabled – where exactly (which images) should I check on your site to get a better idea of how they are displayed there?

    Best regards,
    Adam

That is the right plugin, but I recently tried this plugin and it seems to work without any problems.

    Hi @niallasd

    Thanks for response!

So if another plugin works just fine, it confirms that it’s related to how that first one utilizes JS to dynamically handle images.

There isn’t much that could be done here other than, as I mentioned previously, trying to exclude entire page or specific images from Lazy Load but I understand you have switched to that new plugin and it works fine for you now, right?

    Kind regards,
    Adam

New one works so I’ll stick with that, thanks.
