Lighbox effect not working after WP 5.2.2 update

I have 3 galleries set up on a single page. Neither of them work with the lightbox effect of being able to use the previous and next buttons. The arrows do not show up at all. I have reviewed all of the settings and the feature IS enabled. But to view the next photo I have to close the image and click on another one in the grid.

On my test site I created a page with three galleries and the arrows appear automatically when I check the ‘Gallery Enabled’ option. The only way I can make the arrows disappear is by deleting the HTML in the ‘Arrow Button Markup’ field and clicking the Update button. This field is automatically refilled if the it is blank when the page reloads. but there is no arrow markup saved at this point. I got the arrows to reappear by clicking the Update button which save the default arrow markup HTML.
And this is the default arrow HTML:
