  • I wish I’d done this before hitting that upgrade button!

    @gailsibley,

    I have tried EVERY WAY I could think of to notify users of the massive changes in 3.0, I’m sorry we didn’t catch you.

    Yah, I also didn’t realize that you were going to do such a massive update that would actually undo almost EVERY css customization I added. You aren’t making it easy to create themes using this plugin.

    @karlikdesign,

    I’m sorry that we’ve made things difficult for you.

    I receive on any given day a dozen complaints about LifterLMS and 3.0 resolved a few hundred frequent complaints.

    I know we’ve upset some people too and I’ve lost sleep over this for a few months leading up to 3.0 and every day since.

    We are trying to create a plugin that works for a massive number of people. We don’t make a lot of money and we still need to provide great support, fix issues, and add new features. We’ve made a lot of mistakes in the past. We are still making mistakes and we’re going to keep moving forward and fixing them. LifterLMS is an immature plugin in the scheme of the WordPress space but this release, I hope, will be the only major update we’ll ever have to make that will change this many things.

    If you can overcome the transition I know you will appreciate the changes we’ve made. And, if you really are looking to develop themes on top of our software I’d urge you to subscribe to our newsletter, join us in facebook, read our blog posts, and actively communicate with us. Know what’s going on and help direct the future. I want to make this for you but I can’t anticipate your needs or pains if you don’t vocalize them.

    Thanks for using LifterLMS and I’m looking forward to seeing what you have to say in the future,

    @thomasplevy

    Thanks for your thoughtful reply.

    I appreciate the work that goes into this plugin. It was just a surprise to see so many major changes (and also now charging for paypal integration). It made my theme unusable after the upgrade so I’m kinda scrambling to put in the fixes because I now have a small group of clients who are using it!

    Anyway, I do like all the updates and I’m excited to get my own courses going so I do want to stick with you guys and hopefully help iron out some things. I’m also kinda in too deep now to turn back. lol.

    So I finally found the guts to update from 2.7 to 3.5.
    But now my production tells me to “Run the Updater”, but even after running it the message just doesn’t go away.
    What should I do?

    @tsahil,

    Is it showing you a progress bar?

    Can you send a screenshot?

    If you have priority support please open a new ticket regarding this issue.
