License of plugins in directory

  • I have one question about licenses of plugins that are in directory here at www.remarpro.com: are all of them released under GPL or no?

    Why I’m asking this is that I used code of one plugin to create something that is not covered with that plugin (because it is not meant for that) and since I’m use it internally I thought that maybe I could release that my hack publicly. But then I checked again that plugin which code I used and there is no any information about license in it, and I don’t know am I allowed to do what I wanted.

  • Yes, all plugins are supposed to be released under GPL. So if you improve upon a plugin, you can usually release it. Try contacting the author of the original plugin.

    And if you download enough plugins, you will find that many people build upon and improve other plugins.

    The only thing you can’t do with other people’s plugins is sell them.
