I have set up my site with Tutor LMS but am completely stuck at the moment because it doesn’t support teachers buying a course license for an entire class.

I only have one course and teachers need to be able to buy any number of licenses at once. The students are in high school and should not have to pay anything themselves but possibly set up their own account – to let them remember their password.

Therefore: can Lifter LMS do what I need?

And would this be possible through the free core plugin or would I need to upgrade right away?

    Hi @nrherron @jnr4u2
Could you please help me here?
I just want to make sure that Lifter LMS has the features I need before I spend too much time with the plugin.

    Hi @superdep,

I only have one course and teachers need to be able to buy any number of licenses at once. The students are in high school and should not have to pay anything themselves but possibly set up their own account – to let them remember their password.

With the Free LifterLMS plugin, you’ll be able to do this. You can send the teacher voucher codes so the students would be enrolled via the voucher codes. See more information here: https://lifterlms.com/docs/use-lifterlms-voucher-system/?sid=6

Let me know if this helps.

    Thanks, this is interesting!

I can see that I can’t receive payments without buying add-ons.

Would running the free version and then buying for instance the woo commerce add-on be enough for what I want?

Also if I go with Lifter LMS without paying for a group add-on: will there be any possibility of each class being separated into a group so that teachers can see how their students did on a quiz or write something to all the students inside Lifter LMS?

I’m a little confused by this:
“With LifterLMS Groups you will be able to:
Sell courses and memberships to a group buyer”

Isn’t the idea about the coupons that these should enable this? Like give a buyer a coupon that covers x licenses?

    Hi @superdep

You could theoretically just use WooCommerce without the integration if you want to use the voucher system for enrollment. You would then be using WooCommerce to sell the vouchers, and users would enroll in the courses with their vouchers.

Without Groups any instructor assigned to a course would be able to see all the students in that course not just their students. Groups would allow you to set the Group leader to monitor progress from their group where they can only see their students and they are not required to be the course instructor.

You can do something similar without groups if say one person purchases X vouchers for their students. However, this does not separate them into groups. They would all be part of the same course and the only way for a user to see their students’ progress would be through them being an instructor on that course.

What Groups allows you to do is have different sets of people use the same course without each leader or purchases needing access to the course as its instructor.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or if we can clarify anything further!

Thanks for the thorough answer @nrherron !
I had thought I would have to create a voucher manually and send them. But are you saying that this could be automatic, so teachers enters x into the quantity field and is sent a voucher covering x licenses?
And if so: Would this require I buy the Woo-Commerce add-on which then in itself is enough to set this up?

I might need this explained very simply since I’m quite tired from starting out this whole LMS thing over the last week.

    Hi @superdep

    Apologies for the confusion!

No vouchers do not go out automatically. You would need to create them.

So, the set up would be to use WooCommerce to allow teachers to buy X amount of vouchers and then you can either create one with X amount of uses that they can send to their students or create X amount of vouchers with one use that can be emailed as a CSV to the teacher for distribution.

Then each voucher would count for one enrollment. Each student could only use it once.

    Does this help?

Please let us know if you have any further questions!

    Hi again @nrherron
This is exactly what I have set up now. I was just curious if it could be done automatically. But either way that’s not too important.
