Let users favourite taxonomy page?

I have a taxonomy pages with a number of genres of posts, each acts as more of a top level category to read/navigate rather than just as an archive.

Is there a way to allow users to favourite the taxonomy pages?

Manually adding the shortcode to my site’s php using echo do_shortcode does capture the clicks, but it assigns the favourite to the most recent post in that category.
