Scale cover not working with Featured Images

Hey. I’m trying to create a latest posts box using the featured image of each post and the title. To get all images at the same size, I’m trying to use the Scale Cover option in the editor. But they never get scaled and cropped. Also, images with different height break the layout.
I’ve attached a couple of images in Imgur to see the problem, here it is:
Maybe it’s a bug or maybe I’m not doing something right. Thanks for any help in advance.
