    Mark,

Can the length of the result field be increased? I am planning on using the plugin for a volleyball site I am redesigning. In this sport you can have five scores for a single match. Therefore the result could be something like W – 25-24, 25-23, 23-25, 22-25, 25-20.

    Thanks – Chris

I was able to update the .php file in the plugins folder to solve this. Would be nice to include in the next version so I don’t have to modify each time.

    Hi Chris,
Yes, it’s a simple fix to the length of the results field. Easy enough. I have already removed the length restrictions from the data fields. My original concern (and still a concern) is that long fields will mess up the tabular displays. How did that work out for you? Do you have a link I could look at?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Mark,

It worked just fine. However, there are still a few things that would be needed to make it perfect for me. I may just have to modify the code because not everyone may like my way of displaying the scores. In my mind, there needs to be two fields, one for the result (Win, Loss, Tie), and another for the scores. These two items are displayed together in the same table column with a break to separate them.

I agree with your concern of the length on the tables. However, it does wrap the text. So if, like me, you have lots of scores, it will still display.

I don’t have a link for the WordPress site, it only exists on my local drive! But here’s a link to the site I am converting – . This will give you an idea of what I am attempting to show.

    Mark,

On another note, any idea how I could handle the tournaments on the schedule? If you went to the link I sent, it get’s pretty ugly on some of the large tournaments which have several playing sites. What I think I may have to do is create specific pages with the tournament details and put the link to the page on the schedule.

It’s also nice to group all of the game results together. But I think I could just handle this with individual entries – not the way I do it now. But it would work.

Just curious if you have any ideas.

    Hi Chris,
Your site looks great and it looks like the Lovejoy Leopards had a pretty good year. I live in Southern California where volleyball is, shall we say, fairly big. I know a lot of the girls on the La Costa Canyon High School team that won the national championship in 2008 (as I recall). A lot of them are finishing up at Stanford, USC, etc now. The girls in SoCal now would prefer to play beach (which is what makes them so strong in the gym). I wouldn’t be surprised to see beach sort of take over. (Then you can have tournaments with 3-5 teams from each school!!)

As for the scores, I’ve removed the length limits on all the fields, but two separate result fields is not going to be in the next release. I’ll put it on the wish list though.

As for the tournaments, what I’ve seen for basketball is to just create separate games and use “XYZ Tournament – ABC High School” as the location. I’ve fixed a bug (next release) that prevented events on the same day from sorting properly. The “next release” was targeted for “before spring” but I’m about out of air speed and altitude with taxes closing in and LAX season in full swing. So mid-April may be more realistic. I do have a beta some people are testing for me if you’re interested.

    Mark,

They did have a good year. Fifth state championship in 6 years of varsity play. A new school with a great program. I noticed the transition in club for girls to play beach. In my mind, it’s not as action packed. But it pays! My daughter played at Lovejoy and now plays in college. I still haven’t gotten away from taking photos and doing all of the media. That’s why I am in the process of converting to WordPress. So someone without HTML experience can manage the site going forward.

    I’ll work on your suggestions…..

I will also send you an email about participating in the beta.
