    Hi there,

I had a few crashes on my site today (likely unrelated to my question) when trying to view the following page.

    https://prnt.sc/yzvwh52Yobsz

My question is this. Is it safe for me to “Enable compatibility mode (synchronizes orders to the posts table).” when I haven’t done this before? maybe this is something new with the recent wordpress update?

I ask the question because I tried to search for an answer before posting and read a lot about checkouts breaking when people mess around with the legacy rest api plugin. As a small business, only starting out. I need to make sure I don’t break things like that.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there!

I understand your concern, especially when making adjustments to a live site as a new business.

Enabling the “Compatibility Mode” option for HPOS (High-Performance Order Storage) is generally safe and designed to ensure that both the new orders table and the posts table stay synchronized. This feature is helpful if you plan to activate HPOS.

To learn more about why enabling HPOS could benefit your store, here’s a helpful article: WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage.

    Thanks for your reply.

Is it best for me to just wait for the Legacy REST API to be phased out or is there any way for me to figure out if I can delete it now?

    Hello mmk175,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand you’re concerned about enabling compatibility mode due to potential issues with the Legacy REST API plugin and the recent WordPress update.

It’s safe to enable compatibility mode, but the issue with viewing the Features page might not be related to HPOS or compatibility mode.

Please check WooCommerce > System Status > Logs for any errors.
If you find anything related to WooCommerce, please share it with me.

To check if you still need the Legacy REST API, I recommend testing by creating a staging site and reviewing site functionality there.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us again if you have more questions or concerns.

    Best regards.
