I have this site using Minimal Grid, but I want to move over to 2024 theme.

How do I add a left side header like the existing side? The main pages are fine, but I tried to create a two column template with the heading moved to the left column. However, it doesn’t seem to work properly (mainly when collapsing the site)

Any suggestions, or is the two column idea the correct one? Or do I need some other way of creating the left side?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey @davinderschiedel ! Have you already looked at any block-based themes which implement something similar. I’d highly recommend taking a look at these themes to get an idea of the approach you can use:

The best way to try these, is by using WP Playground. It runs entirely in browser, and will let you test themes, the editor, and more.

Thanks. That’s interesting. I was just under the impression that 2024 is the best to use as it’s optimised and quite simple and made by WordPress.

Hi @davinderschiedel – I think what @properlypurple means (and what I would echo) is to look at the way those themes have it set up, and to mimic it with Twenty Twenty-Four.

To go back to your original question…

However, it doesn’t seem to work properly (mainly when collapsing the site)

Could you elaborate a bit more about this – and what isn’t working as you’d like?

Thanks. I used that method to copy the elements over from the side bar one to the 2024 one and it seems to work well. I’m happy with the structure of the site now.

The only issue I seem to have now is that when the screen collapses for mobile and tablet, the main logo still remains a similar size so it looks too big on mobile for example.

Ideally, I need the tablet and mobile to be the same, but I want to try and reduce the logo size, have it left and the hamburger bar to the right. I can do alignment, etc. but this makes alignment for all screen sizes.

Looking more into this, I am going to use the Bjork template as the basis. Seems to work well and is simplified.

Hi @davinderschiedel – glad you found a solution that worked for you. I’m marking this as resolved but if you need help with anything else, don’t hesitate to start a new thread.
