left aligned images act like there’s an image where there isn’t
-
Ok, I’ve been using wp for years, and I’ve never seen this happen. I’m adding several left-aligned images to a page, one after another, so they’ll align in a grid. The first set worked fine. After a second header, I added another batch, and when it got to the second row, it skipped a space. At first I thought the alignment had accidentally gotten changed to center, but it hadn’t. I added some more images, and it still skips the first space in the second row.
If I drag the edge of the page to make it narrower or wider, the images shift around, and always leave the first space in the second row blank, so it’s not an issue with any particular image, it’s that space. I don’t get it.
I rebooted and it’s still the same. Tried it in both Chrome and Firefox; it’s the same in both. I’m on a MacBook with Mojave 10.14.4.
Does anyone have any idea what is actually happening or how to fix this?
Alternately, can anyone recommend a plugin that would let me do what I’m trying to do, i.e., set up photos in multiple grids on a page with each image linkable to an outside site and showing a caption without having to hover over it? I tried a couple of plugins that sounded like they would do that, but clicking on the image just made the images bigger, didn’t follow the link.
