Leave a Reply box – is there a character limit?

    Is there a limit to the length a person can post a comment? I’ve had two peeps say that when they tried to submit a long comment, their comment disappeared after they pressed the Post Comment button.

    Yet I’ve had spam comment that was long, that was submitted successfully. How is that possible?

    How do I increase the character limit for Comment in the Leave a Reply box?

    Themes don’t really control the comment’s content or length. Possible causes of your issue might be: a plugin interfering with the comments, caching plugins that don’t refresh the page when a new comment is posted, or maybe the comments are getting flagged as spam either due to the visitor’s IP or Email or the comment’s content itself.

    ‘the comments are getting flagged as spam’ – I skim check all my spam in case any legit email gets put there.

    What could it be?

    I’ll put it down to user error, I was just curious because a second person said they lost a long comment after submitting it.
