“leave a comment” link on page in gear theme

How do I put a link on the gear theme so people will leave comments? The only way now is to click on the individual blog in the right sidebar but there is no instructions to say to do that. I could put a short instruction but that means editing the side bar code. Do I need to change themes as I have seen this option on other blog sites. Thanks.
