• Google crawling is flagging a lot of 404 responses on our site and it turns out that they’re all related to Learnpress lessons, but somehow they are URLs that shouldn’t exist.

For example, Google has returned a 404 for the following:

    https://sewoverit.com/lessons/where-do-i-start-with-petite-dressmaking-alterations/

But the actual URL of the lesson is:

    https://sewoverit.com/courses/fitting-friday-petite-alterations/lessons/where-do-i-start-with-petite-dressmaking-alterations/`

The page Google has found comes up when logged in as an admin, and going in to edit the page from the incorrect URL takes you to the correct editing page for that lesson, so I can’t physically delete the page as I’ll lose the content I need to keep.

Does anyone have any examples of this happening before? It seems to have only started a couple of months ago, we’ve been using Learnpress for about 3 years.

    Many thanks for any advice!

    Hi,

We are finding a way to fix this issue, at the moment you can use the SEO plugin to redirect 404 links to 301 or more to resolve this issue.
In the future, we will resolve it may be in two next versions.

    Thanks

Great observation @sewoverit and thanks to the LearnPress team for taking note of this.
