Learning wordpress for a total newbie

  • I’m getting into WordPress and see myself using a custom theme such as Thesis or Semiologic sometime in the near future. Would it be easier to buy and install the theme and then dive into customizing my blog, or should I build a knowledge foundation by learning wordpress 3.2.1 first? Thanks.

  • It depends on what sort of site you are trying to build really. I would recommend just using a free theme initially, and get a feel of WordPress and how themes work and find out what you need from a theme. Then you will be in a better position to decide if a theme like Thesis is right for your website.

    I would recommend learning WordPress first.

    Use WordPress default theme “twenty eleven” and learn things. Once you know WordPress,you can take better decision on buying themes.
