Learning PHP

  • I know this is not about wordpress but i don’t know where eles to ask. I am new to PHP development and i want to buy a book. I have settled on
    Learn PHP, MySQL and JavaScript by Robin Nixon but i’m feeling a bit apprehended because the book is (roughly) 3 years old.
    Can i still use it now ?
    I know nothing about mySQL and JavaScript though i can understand PHP a bit.
