• Where can I learn to use all of the settings in the “Insert/Embed” tool (the film strip)?

I create my own screen shot videos and save them as .mov’s.

I FTP them to my Content folder. And, copy the URL. I then paste it into the “Insert” tool.

My results are hit and miss and I have a feeling I need to use some of the advanced settings.

I have looked all over the support forums AND I’ve Googled the topic. I can’t find any instructions that go through the tool, step by step and identify what the options are and how to use them.

    Can someone please help?

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the response.

However, the discussion is limited to WordPress versions prior to the change in 2.9 that introduced the “Insert” too.

I tried searching again and have yet to find a set of instructions that cover the options in the new “film strip” tool.

Are you talking about WordPress from www.remarpro.com? I don’t know what you mean by a “film strip” tool?

In the WordPress tool bar, in Visual mode, there is a tool the logo for which looks likde a film strip — presented vertically. It is two green squares, to depict film, with a line separating them, and the depiction of sprockets on each side.

When you hover over it you see “Insert/edit embedded media”.

IIRC — this tool first appeared in WP2.9.

Invoking the tool brings up a window that lets you choose the type of media, ie, FLV, Quicktime, etc, and set parameters for its use.

It’s those parameters or settings that I’m trying to learn.

    Thanks.

There is no button like that in 3.1.
3.0.5 was the last version to have it I belive.

“The plugin was removed due to licensing issues. It should never have been included in WordPress, and was never used by many. It won’t be coming back to WordPress core.” – WP Developer

This is why you don’t find an explanation on it’s use.

    OK, now what?

How do I embed my own videos, ftp’d to my own content folder — not posted on my YouTube channel?

Is there a way to use oembed to use videos from my own site and not on one of their listed sites?

Or, is there a plugin that will do it.

    My video’s are .mov.

I want them in some form of player.

    Thanks.
