Learn from scratch or tweak a theme?

  • I have tweaked themes in the past. It’s a PITA but can be done.

    However I have seen others create themes from blogs using digital scrapbook files. How does one go about this? I can’t find a decent (for me) tutorial. I need a step, by step.. bite by bite (think baby food type bites) tutorial on how to do this.

    Is there such a thing?

    Would it be easier to just find a layout I like and tweak it? I am talking about a theme made up of mostly image files. I can do this with software I have but that software doesn’t create WordPress friendly files.

    Any suggestions?

    Be nice, I’m a novice (obviously).
