• Hi all,

I’ve been using this plugin for a year now and it is great for the league I help run. However, we are about to start our new season and I’m a bit perplexed trying to make the league tables correct.

I have added a new season in Seasons. I have added the various teams to the correct season and the correct league tables (e.g., if they’ve been promoted from Div 2 to Div 1).

However, how do I get the revised league tables for the new season while preserving the existing league tables for the “previous seasons” archive?

Do I really have to create a new league table, e.g., “2015-2016 Division 1” instead of just keeping “Division 1” and showing the teams for the new season?

I’d prefer to keep the division names and slugs and have the new teams showing in those leagues.

    Please someone let me know.

I’m struggling to see the point of having “seasons” at all for the plugin. Looking through it again, there appears to be no link between seasons and competitions.

The way I thought it would work would be (e.g., English football):-

      Season 2014/2015

    Premier League
    Championship
    League 1
    League 2
    etc.

      Season 2015/2016

    Premier League
    Championship
    League 1
    League 2
    etc.

You add the teams and you allocate them to the league by season. e.g., Team A is in Championship for the 2014/2015 season but the Premier League for the 2015/2016 season (i.e., they were promoted).

The only way I can see the plugin working with seasons is if I create new competitions for each season. So it would be:-

      Season 2014/2015

    2014-2015 Premier League
    2014-2015 Championship
    2014-2015 League 1
    2014-2015 League 2
    etc.

In a few seasons I’m going to have a ton of different competitions listed!

Surely there should be a way to have the competitions being dependants of the seasons.

    Can someone clarify?

I need to get the leagues updated for the new season while retaining the existing tables for the 2014/2015 season for the archive pages.

OK, I’ve worked some of this out.

I have kept “Division 1”, “Division 2”, etc. as the competitions. I have then created League Tables as “2014-2015 Division 1”, “2015-2016 Division 1”, etc.

All seems to work OK but there is a major issue I cannot seem to work around. If a team gets relegated from Division 1 to Division 2, how do I record this? I’ve added the new season to the team and I’ve added Division 2 to the team. Now they are showing in both Division 1 and Division 2 in the current and previous season! There is no way to say, Team A is in Division 1 in 2014/2015 season and Division 2 in 2015/2016 season.

Please someone tell me what I’m overlooking!
