Hi all,

Didn’t know where to go for help on this but I use Autoptimize, WP Fastest Cache and Async Javascript for different purposes. I cannot bring my LCP score any lower for any of my pages on my blog.

I have tried many, many things, but it might be an issue with the set up of my Hero image. I was hoping somebody could check it out for me incase I can do anything else within Autoptimize?

I know nothing of CSS or coding!

Is it an image issue or is it the way I have it set up?

the problem is the LCP item is the background image and background images are not “discovered” early by the browser, what you can try is:

* go the the “edit” view of said page
* look for the “autoptimize this page” metabox
* in there you should see an “lcp image” field, add the (shortpixel) URL to the image there (https://sp-ao.shortpixel.ai/client/to_webp,q_glossy,ret_img/https://scepticstravelguide.ie/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Sceptics-Travel-Guide-Hero-Title-e1697746502120.jpg)
* save the page
* clear any page cache you might have

and test, it _should_ be (a bit) better?

Thanks Frank, I gave that a go but hard to know if it worked.

I don’t think my title background size is correct. On mobile it’s cropping rather than shrinking so something isn’t set up right.

well, LCP was 12+ seconds when I tested earlier today, it’s around 6s now, so *something* seems to be working ??

when I compare https://scepticstravelguide.ie/aboutus/ with https://scepticstravelguide.ie/aboutus/?ao_noptimize=1 (which disables AO) I don’t seem to see a difference, so the problem is unlikely to be with your Autoptimize settings?
