Hello,

I have entered the WordPress link to the image file in the LCP field. Nevertheless, Pingdom, GTMetrix and Google Page Speed show me that I can “preload” exactly the image.

Message: You can preload the image used by the LCP element to improve the LCP time.

What am I doing wrong that doesn’t preload this?

OK, can you try replacing the LCP image URL with https://www.fehnblogger.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/19.-November-2022-fehnblogger-0410-2-696×392.webp (as that is what pagespeed asks)?

I’m still seeing the jpg image preloaded, whilst Pagespeed says to preload the webp image (see the link in my preious answer) chicharron ? can you change to the webp version and/ or purge any page cache you or your host might have?

The image I see is the first image on the top right (a featured image) – this is in webp format.
I’ve cleared the cache several times.

ah, so you’re setting the webp but getting the jpg version? even stranger; the webp version is not mentioned in the HTML source and I don’t see you have anything (a image optimization plugin) that switches between jpeg & webp?

I reviewed the code that does the preload injection, but I don’t see where/ how it could turn https://www.fehnblogger.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/19.-November-2022-fehnblogger-0410-2.webp into https://www.fehnblogger.de/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/fehnblogger_bildpost.jpg (which is a different file altogether).

Do you have anything set in Settings -> Autoptimize -> Extra -> Preload?

thThese are two completely different images. The “image post” is the footer of the website – but it is exactly the other thing that is displayed to me as the largest LCP graphic.

indeed, but there is an image preload for https://www.fehnblogger.de/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/fehnblogger_bildpost.jpg in your HTML source now, do you have that set in Autoptimize -> Extra -> Preload perhaps?
