    Yes, this is actually a bug that causes WebP images (if they are using a “native” webp extension and are visible to the site as such) to be skipped. This is already “on the table” and should be fixed and made available in one of upcoming releases – I don’t have an exact release date but should be address with (or soon after) next major release.
