I am fairly new to WordPress, but am considering using it for one of our very large wbe sites (hundreds of pages).

A custom block builder would be very useful, as our pages often consist of many blocks of structured content (eg heading, image, rich text content etc).

Lazy Blocks looks just what we need, however, my concern is what if Lazy Blocks (or any other plugin, for that matter) stops being supported or the author withdraws it – will it still be useable, or will I have to deactivate or delete it? Or if it becomes out of date and incompatible with WP.

In this case, presumably I can never recover all the content in these custom blocks which would mean finding an alternative and rebuilding from scratch (ie there is no export process).
Would I be safer building my own custom blocks? I am a developer but new to WP and PHP but sure I could do this is I have to.

    Would appreciate some advice.

    Hi,

Our plugin works like a middleware for Gutenberg Blocks API to create blocks using PHP configs. This means that once you deactivate the Lazy Blocks, all your created blocks stop working.

If you decide not to use Lazy Blocks anymore, you can migrate blocks to your own middleware, but it will require coding knowledge.

I can’t tell you which is better for your product. This is like choosing between – using one language over another /// using one framework over another framework /// using a framework or even writing everything manually.

If you are scared that this “yet another plugin” will be abandoned, just don’t use it.

    Regards,
    Nikita.
