• Hi, I’m new to this. I downloaded the gold version, got it installed, worked out how to edit most things in the style shett but for the life of me I can’t work out how to center the whole thing in the browser.
I’ve read about people using tables to lay things out, where does this table goes. I read someone say “edit the #rap” but it seems you need to edit bits of the rap. I’ve tried this and it just went to hell.
    Start from the begining. Thanks.

  • It is very difficult to judge what you are talking about without looking at your CSS and index.php. How about a link to your CSS and your blog as it stands now?

I use Top Style for my .CSS layouts. You can get it at: https://www.bradsoft.com/topstyle/index.asp
It’s the only way I can get everything centered.
Don’t forget to view it at different resolutions! I use Browser Master which you can get here: https://www.applythis.com/browsermaster/
    Good luck! ??

Hi, Sorry – I have it running under a local instance of apache so I can’t really give you a link. I’ve put it all back as it comes on first installation. As it stands at the moment all I want to achieve is centering a fresh installation and limiting the whole thing to 750px (ish). Pretty much as this page is layed out.
I’ll have a look at topstyle but if there are any other suggestions based on what I’ve told you now then I’d be really glad for them.
    Thanks Guys.

You can find a lot of good tutorials and information at ProjectSeven — https://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/index.htm
They also offer lots of commercial tools as well as tonnes of articles. Look on their support page for the link to their very good newsgroup as well.

I downloaded topstyle. Can’t see how you align stuff. set the body width to 750 but that just changes the main section of the page which is now 750px and sitting on the left of the browser while the link / calender et al sit on the right of the browser with a big gap in the middle. What have I missed?
    Bob.

If you go to https://dinki.mine.nu/word/index.php?cat=6 you will find a list of existing CSS templates for WP. Allusion has created a very nice template (and has shared it with us) which looks nice and is formatted similar to this page. There are instruction and download links included for the template. You could start modifying that template to get better results.

I’m sorry that you can’t get it with top style, there are tons of tutorials out there. ??
