• I am trying to covert an older theme over to this one, but when I change it over, all of the page titles are above where the blog would actually start. I can send you a picture if that would help. I could not find anything on how to make this go away.

    So, it basically looks like

    Blog Title

    Every Page Title

Current Sidebar Widgets going straight across

It’s a complete mess and I am hoping to get someone that can make this conversion a bit easier for me. Thanks!

    Thanks for choosing Mission News!

When switching themes, the new theme won’t “know” about your old menu, so it will always default to listing all of your pages. If you’ve already created a custom menu then it just needs to be reassigned via the Menus section in the Customizer (Appearance > Customize).

This support article provides some more detail and the steps to create and assign menus in WordPress: https://support.competethemes.com/help/customize-menu-mission-news/

I do have menus created, but the pages are above the menus. So what you are saying is that if I create a menu category and assign all of these pages, they will all be removed from up top? Is that correct?

Okay, so I created a menu for those pages and reactivated the theme, but all the pages were still listed at the top of the blog, directly beneath the header.

I think it would be far more helpful if I could send you a screenshot of what it looks like to make it clearer, because I think you are misunderstanding what the problem is. I don’t see a way to attach a photo on here, so not sure how to go about this.

I’m not sure if you mean the site title or the page title when you say “blog title” so it’s hard for me to understand.

If the issue is with all pages being listed below the site title then follow this info:

Mission News has two menu locations in the header: https://screenshot.competethemes.com/L1ugL4w9

Inside the Menus section in the Customizer, you can assign your menus here: https://screenshot.competethemes.com/lluyBZrO

If you don’t assign a Secondary menu it will stay blank and if you don’t assign a Primary menu it will default to listing all of the pages: https://screenshot.competethemes.com/nOuNApAW

If the issue is with the pages being listed between the site title and the page title then check the “Ad Spot – Below Header” widget area in the Appearance > Widgets menu.

The Ad Spot I know about, which I am leaving as is because that is the the sidebar stuff on the current theme. I will move those once we activate mission news permanently.

What I am talking about is the actual title of every page we created showing up between and even the ad spot. The Ad Spot Below Header is empty. The Ad Spot above Posts is where the old side bar things showed up, so I can take care of that later.

I just activated the theme so you can see what I am talking about. Directly below the header and before the Ad Spot Above Posts, there are about a 100 pages links for all the existing pages. I cannot figure out how to move them out of that spot other than physically deleted the pages, which I don’t want to do, because we will have a bunch of dead links out there.

All of the links here are in the Primary menu: https://screenshot.competethemes.com/JruWd1vz

Once you assign a custom menu to the Primary menu location, it will replace the links with the ones in your custom menu. Since a menu has not been assigned to the Primary menu location yet, the theme is listing all of the pages as a fallback. You can assign a menu to the Primary location in the Menus section in the Customizer here: https://screenshot.competethemes.com/lluyBZrO
