You have made the use of columns, rows, sections, UN-intuitive to say the least here.. I am spending a ton of time trying to get a ‘column’ to be full width, it requires that I have two ‘columns’ in this ‘column’ which is really mislabeled, because it is actually a row that contains columns.. Confusing there for newbies I am sure, but you don’t even have a ‘row’ or ‘section’.

Now, the next issue is that you do not highlight or even show the ‘rows’, ‘columns’, and sections in the GUI. A person has to ‘feel around’ with their mouse and watch what gets highlighted to see if they are on an element or site structure item like a ‘column’.

I just found it to be completely counter-productive due to the lack of on-screen indicators to see where you are. Just even borders on those items would help, but this is almost unusable.

I would almost rather hand-right the page and just use the options as widgets or something because it is not very user friendly.

Is there a roadmap to improve the user interface to be more intuitive related to sections, rows, and columns and also highlighting which one you are hoovering over?

I am going to discuss it further with Godaddy to see if they think it is best to include this as an option for their Installatron templates, seems like we still have work to do here before that should have happened.

    Adding to this…

You also cannot drop in a “heading” into another element like a “classic” site element. Unfortunately, the ‘classic’ element is the only thing you offer that truly goes full-width on your options.

So interchanging the elements to go within each other by drag and drop should be there but it isn’t. You have to recreate the element and then delete the old one.

TIME CONSUMING. This is more time consuming than the old classic WP editors. I think I prefer DIVI at this point to what we have here.

Is there a roadmap for improvements for CoBlocks that will help me determine whether I should tell clients to use this or to use a different builder? I can’t see promoting it without that roadmap.

    Hi @jasonbrogdon,

Thank you for making this support request. As far as the use of columns and rows, we agree that use can be frustrating at times. Especially when having to click or ‘feel around’ with the mouse to find the component you are trying to edit. Luckily Gutenberg development team has been working on improvements to the block selection process by altering component padding among other changes. Hopefully soon we can start to see some ease-of-use improvements in core.

We do not have a public facing roadmap for improvements or changes. Much of the planning and progress for CoBlocks is done on our the public GitHub located here: https://github.com/godaddy/coblocks
Please feel free to raise issues, leave comments, contribute, or participate in any way you would like.

The classic block and heading block are not provided by CoBlocks but instead by Gutenberg directly. Comments or features suggestion for these blocks should be directed to the Gutenberg support team here on www.remarpro.com.

Easier movement of the blocks within the editor is something that has been worked on by the Gutenberg team and luckily there are some improvements available in the Gutenberg plugin for block movement. Hopefully we will see these improvements in core soon.

As far as usability and navigation are concerned I believe that you would benefit to know about the Top Toolbar available under the ‘Show more tools & options’ button in the upper right hand of the editor. The next item to be aware of is the ‘Block Navigation’ button located in the top toolbar located across the top of the editor. I have found use of these tools made editing simpler. Hope this helps.

    Best,

    Anthony
